As we took our seats, we couldn't help but marvel at the stunning view of the mountains and vineyards that stretched out before us. The front-of-house staff welcomed us with genuine warmth, creating an inviting and comfortable atmosphere that made us feel welcome.
As we settled into our seats, we were greeted by Isaac, our friendly and knowledgeable waiter who promptly introduced us to the three-course menu and served us with some delectable olives to cleanse our palates. As we sipped our drinks and soaked up the stunning vistas, we were pleasantly surprised by an array of appetizing snacks that made us even more eager for the main event.
Shortly after, we had the privilege of meeting the esteemed Chef Marthinus himself, who personally walked us through each dish and shared his zero-waste philosophy, emphasizing the importance of using every ingredient to its fullest potential. The dishes were a testament to his passion for sustainability, boasting impeccable presentation and bold, memorable flavours that left us in awe. Chef Marthinus even forages for some of the ingredients himself, but he kept the locations close to his chest, adding a touch of mystery and intrigue to the experience.
As we indulged in the heavenly bread - undoubtedly the best we've ever tasted - and savoured the first bites of the Thai inspired salad, we knew that this was going to be a culinary adventure like no other. The pickled vegetables were a delightful surprise, bursting with flavour and perfectly balanced with the beef parcels that simply melted in our mouths. Just when we thought we couldn't be any more impressed, we were treated to a bone marrow surprise that left us speechless. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared with exceptional attention to detail, showcasing Chef Marthinus' expertise and creativity. Every bite was a true delight, elevating our dining experience to new heights.
We began our meal with the Fried Potato Crumpet and Sauteed Prawns as starters. The Fried Potato Crumpet was a heavenly dish that blended an array of flavours in a truly divine way. Meanwhile, the Sauteed Prawns were absolutely out of this world, and the corn puree added a surprisingly delightful dimension to the dish.
For our mains, we had the pleasure of trying the Sous Vide Beef Flatrib, a dish that left us in awe. Cooked at 170 degrees for 48 hours, the meat was so tender it practically melted in our mouths, while the crispy fried bone marrow and flavourful bordelaise sauce added an extra layer of deliciousness. Equally impressive was the Fricasse of Courgette, a vegetarian dish bursting with bold and exquisite flavours that left us thoroughly impressed. The combination of textures and tastes in every bite was a true masterpiece that we won't forget anytime soon.
Dessert was an absolute treat, especially the Jordan way of serving Apple Crumble! The dish was beautifully presented, featuring a baked apple, salted caramel mousse, olive oil sable, and yoghurt sorbet. It was a truly exceptional twist on the classic dessert, and we couldn't get enough of it. We savoured every bite!
